Colours of the Carnival

Every year thousands of people take to the streets to celebrate Notting Hill Carnival: a parade of floats, feathers and frenzies.

As the tinny sound of steel drums fills the streets, and the boom of the bass vibrates the concrete beneath your feet, crowds gather and line W2’s streets eagerly watching the displays shimmy past in a flurry of colour and smiles.

Yesterday, I visited the carnival for the first time. Β Keen to get a good viewing spot, we arrived early enough to bag front row seats facing the procession. Β Of course, one of the most memorable aspects of the day were the wonderful colours and costumes.

Here are some of my favourite shots of the day and a little video to get you in the Caribbean mood!
